Hema-Fast Staining Directions
Using a staining rack, slides may be stained either singly using forceps or in groups.
- Arrange the blood film in a staining rack. Dip the rack slowly in Solution #1 five times with a duration of about one to two seconds per dip. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Transfer the entire rack to Solution #2, dip slowly five times as in previous step. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Transfer the entire rack to Solution #3, dip slowly five times as in previous step.
- Rinse slide or rack under running tap water and allow slides to air dry or dry with dryer.
Note that since the stain is a three part system, some variation may be obtained by changing individual technique. By varying the number of dips in Solution #2 or #3, different intensity of reds and blues may be obtained.
